Anne Maxwell, LCSW, RPT-S

Anne is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor. She connects easily with children of all ages, including the very youngest, as well as with their parents. As a play and family therapist, she believes that healing is a family affair, and includes parents as an integral part of their child’s therapy. She specializes in trauma, attachment, autism, adoption, blended families, difficult and severe behaviors, as well as parenting.

 

Anne draws on a wide range of therapeutic approaches, including Play Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Structural Family Therapy, Relational Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. She loves working with children and their parents and families, and has a kind and non-judgmental approach. She understands that unlike adults, young children communicate energetically and through their play. For them, toys are words and play is language. She is fluent in the language of play, and encourages parents to learn this language to improve communication and connection within the family.

 

Having traveled internationally for the last several years facilitating workshops and classes, Anne is happy to have put away her suitcases, and to be home! Spending time with friends is important to her and a big part of her life. She believes in body-mind-spirit connection. She loves to dance and takes lessons and classes, finding joy in getting out of her head, improving her technique, and also just dancing for the fun of it! She and her dog, Cina, love going for daily, long walks around a neighborhood lake, which is part of a wildlife refuge, finding peace in the beauty, the activity of it all.
