Hidden Valley Road (2020)

I recommend Hidden Valley Road to anyone interested in family issues and mental illness. Hidden Valley Road chronicles some of the changes to our understanding of mental illness through the lens of a Colorado family. An interesting personal connection is that Dr. Irving Gottesman, a pioneer of research into the genetic contributions to schizophrenia and who is featured in this book, mentored my graduate school mentor (Dr. Lisabeth DiLalla), making him my “academic grandfather.”
